Number 1 – The coffee cup

I decided to paint in acrylic – midway between oil and water colour. This painting was completed in 2010 and was the first time that I made a complete painting.

It was perhaps a bit of a difficult image to start with given the presence of the raffia and the texture of the tablecloth. However, I think I successfully completed the first one. I think the strong points in the painting is the depth, being the darks and the lights and the resulting contrast achieved. I think the coffee in the cup looks realistic and the cinnamon sticks are also quite realistic. The painting is perhaps lacking a bright contrasting colour with the result that is can appear to be somewhat dull.

Blogging on my art

I started to paint and draw again the last while and I decided to start a blog where I can capture my artwork, especially for the case where I were to give away/sell any of them.  I invite my readers to please comment on the artworks.
